Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Announced!

There is another collaboration with Nintendo coming our way, only this time it is not with Pokemon, but with Fire Emblem along with another famous role-playing game series called: Shin Megami Tensei.

Atlus and Intelligent Systems are working on this collaboration!

Here is the trailer for the game:

We have no idea what the game will be about, as well as what the game will be like. This game seems like it'd definitely be exciting!

Miiverse: Updates, Smartphones, Wii Fit U, and...Pikmin!

Some updates have emerged for the Miiverse feature for the Nintendo Wii U over the recent Nintendo Direct (1/23/2013.)

Nintendo plans to give more features to the Miiverse service this spring. These features include:
               - The ability to make user communities
               - Official titles will have more than one community
               - Improvements on usability
               - Add filtering functions

Nintendo is also preparing to allow access to Miiverse via Smartphone this spring. It will start as a browser based experience for the Smartphones, but they do plan on creating an app for Miiverse sometime in the future.
Wii Fit U will be adding the new features that will allow you to create closed user communities on the Miiverse. You'll be given an ID Number for your community, when you use this ID Number in Wii Fit U you can access the community in the Miiverse, kind of like the community feature for Mario Kart 7. You will be able to discuss your exercises, weight changes, or other health topics with other players.

It has been announced that Pikmin 3 will allow you to use the GamePad as a camera to take in-game pictures from a Pikmin's point of view, you will be able to share these pictures in Miiverse. It's actually quite humorous really.

WiiU to Get Virtual Console and Celebration of the Famicom 30th Anniversary

Today Nintendo announced many additions that will be coming to the WiiU over the year.

One of these major additions is the Virtual Console service. The Virtual Console will support NES, SNES, and GBA so far. And, it will be released later this year. There is still no info regarding GameCube games being added to the service.

But, we do have a taste of what this service will be like.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Famicom. So, to celebrate, for the next six months Nintendo will be releasing one game a month that will sort of a trial. Just to see what it is like. These games will be at a discounted price of 30 cents. This month gets Balloon Fight from the NES.

I have purchased the game and have played it for about twenty minutes. So, I'm going to give a little insight on some of the features of the WiiU VC service

So, let's start with the basic features of the game. It is a two player game, so one person can be playing on the gamepad while the other uses the Classic Pro. It is different because the button layouts can be fully customized. It's pretty nice.
Like the 3DS, this also features one save state, which is pretty nice.
Another big feature of the WiiU VC is that it will have a Miiverse community for every game. So, people can post comments, screenshots, and etc. Iwata has said that he would like to see a Balloon Trip score that would surprise them......challenge accepted!
The last big feature, is that the VC games can be played on the gamepad itself.

So, if you own a WiiU, and want to try the new VC service for only 30 cents, this would be a good buy. It is 35MB, and is a quick download.

A new Yoshi game announced for Nintendo WiiU!

I can't believe that I will be saying this. But there happens to be a new Yoshi game in the works for the Nintendo WiiU and has been announced on Nintendo Direct as Yarn Yoshi!

What we know about this game so far is that it is going to be a 2D platform in a world of yarn, much like Kirby's Epic Yarn, released for the Wii in 2010 (Yarn Yoshi is being developed by the same team as Epic Yarn). There will be two images with the games side-by-side

Takashi Tezuka, the director of Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story, will be "deeply involved with this new project".

I myself personally am very excited for this new Yoshi to be making its rounds. Yoshi happens to be my favorite character from the Super Mario series and it's been a while since we've seen him as the main protagonist of any game (since Yoshi's Island DS I believe) let alone a console game. The last time we've seen a console title to have Yoshi be the main protagonist was in 1998 with the ever so amazing, and probably one of my favorite Nintendo 64 games ever, Yoshi's Story.

There is no known release date for this game yet and we hope to get you updated with more information on this new Yoshi game as soon as new information presents itself to us.

Monlith Soft's New Project Shown on Nintendo Direct

Monolith Soft, the makers of the highly succesful Wii JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles, has a trailer for their new project, which was shown at today's Nintendo Direct conference.

This game does seem interesting, and there are a lot of aspects that seem very similar to Xenoblade.
The gameplay and looks like the same style using arts and having an affinity gauge, etc. Even the use of some sort of gun, seems similar to an ether rifle, to heal the user is included.

The environments also look amazing, plus they seem to have that Xenoblade look. And, there seems to be a nice variety of enemies. Some small, then some the size of towering buildings that have a tail swipe that can take out a small army.
This imagine really shows the benefit a game like this gets from being HD.

The one different thing I saw was the mechs. They look as if they can be used for travel, by air and land, and they can be used in combat. To balance them, they seem to also include a fuel gauge.

Now, the reason I am comparing this trailer to Xenoblade, is that the final image was a giant red X. Now, it looks very similar to the X in Xenoblade. So, this may be a sequel. That would also explain the same play style, etc. And, of course for those of you that have beaten the game, you would know that they can continue the story with ease.

If you have not seen the original trailer, I would definitely encourage it. The musical score for the game seems to be really good, and I just can't wait!
